Doctrine of the Cross
(IMPUTATION)
Romans 4:6-8
v6: Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, v7: Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. v8: Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Romans 4:4 “...not of works...” to impute the righteousness of God to the account of mankind
The same word that invites to righteousness, also imputes righteousness
- IMPUTATION (The Judgment of the world at the Cross)
A) Household of Faith cf. Gal. 6:10; 1 Ptr. 4:17a:
Galatians 6:10 “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”
1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”
B) “...remaineth no more sacrifice for sins” cf. Heb 10:26-27, 30 (Adversaries versus His People)
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
